Sweet Filthy Boy
By Christina Lauren
One of my favorite books this year is Beautiful Bastard. It makes sense that it may become a movie and I am so excited for these two authors. They made that series work and boy was it funny and a trip.
Sweet Filthy Boy is not the Five Stars I gave to every one of the Beautiful Series. Why? Hmmm… It’s tough to say. So I will try to formulate something that makes sense.
Waking up married in Vegas? Ok… we have seen this story line before. I thought that there would be more banter between Mia and sexy foreign man. Married? And no real freak out moment? I understood her hangover and the note was touching but the humor wasn’t there.
This is an awesome tour of Paris. I learned SO much about what to do when I visit. However, everyday was repetitive and after a few days, I wanted the angst that these authors had brought to their previous books.
The sex scenes were great. Hot, sizzling, and a wonderful journey for a woman who doesn’t know her body. These authors will always write fabulous sex scenes. That is a given.
So back to the angst. ONE ANGST MOMENT! I skimmed so much by the time it was 70% in just waiting for the climax in the story line and it still wasn’t very Christina Lauren.
I will always rate CL books above 3 stars. They are a favorite. So well written. Great writing. Silly little trends thrown in that catch our time period (FML). But, I can’t do much more than .5 stars on the story line. It just didn’t live up to the Filthy and Boy. I will read the next book. No doubt, I just hope they add more teasing/chasing/taunting scenes that we all love.
