Synopsis: This is about a potential sale of half a MMA gym. The prospective buyer or representative is a beautiful man, Jax, who the owner, Lily, can’t stay away from. It is about their journey to consolidate their lives together both personally and professionally.

What I didn’t like: I suppose the only thing I didn’t like was the physical abuse of women in this book (Caden). I think that it could have been just as good without someone beating up a woman and then everyone sort of brushing it under the rug instead of properly following the law. I also wish there had been more “AFTER” story instead of an epilogue – what was it like for Jax to move closer or did he? What happened with his mother?

What I liked: This is a must read for anyone who likes fighting. I am not one who usually does but Keeland doesn’t focus too much on the actual sport to leave the rest of us hanging. The main two characters are both likeable and no matter what stupidity they go through- you are rooting for them through the book. I like Keeland’s writing style and will be checking out more work by this author.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Mullen is the author of Amazon’s best-selling books (in multiple categories)  – The Chosen Series.

Mullen grew up in Maine and has lived in many cities across the US. She likes to travel but craves to travel to places in her mind. She combines life experience and imagination on paper. She has been a writer since she was eight years old and throughout schooling, she wrote poems and stories.
Mullen has a BA in English and an MS in Non Profit Management. Despite her need to help other less fortunate than her, nothing has ever felt more satisfying than writing. I love reading romance books! I feel like being able to lose yourself in a book in one of the more exciting aspects. The books I love to read and write will be ones that make you feel for the characters. You should have an opinion on every character in a book. Whether you love them, hate them, or think they are up to something. 

 

I live in Philadelphia Pennsylvania with my husband, two kids, and two dogs. On top of starting a writing career I am a full time student, and a full time mom. I love spending time with my kids, although I have to hide the computer from them when I am writing! I love being active and being able to do any activity outdoors. 

 

I have always thought as an author the most important critic is your reader, so I would love to hear from you. If you read the book and loved it or hated it, tell me. As long as it is in a constructive way I will always answer and interact with you. I want fans to feel free to tell me what they want for the characters in the story and what they want to see happen.

Two stars

I enjoyed Karr’s first two books but I did not finish Mended. I got about forty percent through it and was so disappointed. There wasn’t any real conflict. Sure, Ivy and Xander were lovers and now they are back in a bus together but they are polite and the main question was “Are you okay?”. After Garrett asked Xander if he was okay in the bar, I shut the book. What happened? Karr has no real story line and if she does end up with one in the story after 40 percent in, it is way too late in the game. 

We learn that Ivy’s fiance is abusive and hits her and then he is gone. We could have had a good story with that. The bus is boring, the shows are busy. We get it… But where is the passion or the meaningful moments? I could not relate at all to any of the characters. Xander was such a hot head in the first two and now he really seems like a mellow bored guy.  Even River’s character felt one dimensional to me. SO SAD.

The rest of the story is mundane everyday conversation. How are you? Thank you. Are you okay? I don’t know. Maybe I will try it again sometime but I think I have lost interest in this series. I really wish I could have given it more than two stars.

GOOD WOOD BY L.G Pace III and Michelle Pace

4.5 SOLID STARS – But we authors round up. There are quotes from the book in this review – So that may mean *spoilers* but I never give share details after I turn the page. Starting with the less- I hate this part but I get it out of the way and then it’s done. 1/4 of a star was based on the sexual scenes. I wanted more. Molly and Joe are hot, hot, hot. I needed to be in the bed with them. Seriously. Nonetheless, Pace(X2) did a fabulous job with the descriptions of their foreplay. The other 1/4 star went to the ending. I had to read and reread the last line a few times to get the joke. It was a bit abrupt and left me wanting more. But I hear a sequel might be in the works. So…I am holding my breath for sure. Ok so that it done. (Sigh) Pace does a phenomenal job accurately portraying Austin, Texas. Applause, please. This book is one you need to sip like a fine wine and read EVERY descriptive word and every laughable jab at the city we Texans call weird. The food trucks, 6th street, Zilker Park, and so many more places. Thank you for that. This was flawless. The characters are hard not to love. Joe, a very troubled man (and rightfully so), comes of age in this beautiful story of learning to trust and move on with loads of baggage. Molly is sassy and fabulous and yet she is the girl next door that you want to hug and talk shit with. Her own demons are heartbreaking and what Pace does with these characters is so different from other authors these days. We learn about them moving forward all the while learning about their treacherous past relationships. That is a very hard technique to pull off and it was brilliant. Pace is another quotable author. Lines that made me read and reread for the pure brilliance in their meaning. “Time dulls your memory. But the pain increases with the guilt of forgetting details that were once so precious to you.” (Loc 352) “It takes heart to take the most twisted bit of scrap and make something from it as if it were good wood.” (Loc 895) These quotes stuck out for me and while I enjoyed the truly entertaining story of Molly and Joe (and the twins -love them), there is lessons and true forms of compassion in this work that makes it a solid story. Coupled with the intimate therapy sessions, Pace pulls off the way a Texan man honestly deals in anger, blame, and shame. This is not just a read through the night and you got your romance kick for the day. It leaves you with thoughts and reflection so savor it. Bravo to the Pace duo for writing an endearing love story. You nailed it
